Why UV?
It is estimated that five years ago, about 5% of narrow web converters used UV inks. Today that number has increased to over 25% with even faster growth forecasted in the near future. Why such an increase in such a short time? UV printing offers distinct quality, economic, and environmental advantages over water and solvent based processes.

Quality
UV inks have a solid composition, can be laid down heavily, and cured almost instantaneously. With little or no dot gain, UV can print finer screens and provide a longer tonal range achieving crisp, detailed, four-color process images. The ink's high gloss film is hard and abrasion resistant and remains flexible after curing for greater durability.

Economy
UV inks last as much as three times longer than conventional inks for process-color applications, twice as long for whites, and 30% longer for solid-color and type applications. They yield faster start-ups, less waste, and fewer press clean-ups. UV curing systems dry the web instantaneously, resulting in increased press speeds.
